Knowing a foreign language

Knowing a foreign language is good because talking is the best way to communicate with people. If you want to talk, you need to know how to say the words at first. Language is important for the communication. Everybody can use their mother language to talk to their family or their friends. However, if you want to talk to other countries’ people, you need to learn their language. Knowing a foreign language will enable you to communicate with a foreigner, make it easier for you to work in the foreign country and help you understand the history of other countries.
By means of internet and rapid transportation, you will often meet more and more foreign people. They may be your friends, colleagues, or your managers, but you can’t expect they will speak Chinese. English is the international language. Most of people can speak English and you will want to talk to your foreign friends by yourself, not by a translator. Sometimes the miscommunication will give wrong message to your friends.
In addition to English, other languages are also important; for example, Spanish is the second language that most people say in the world. The population of speaking Spanish is larger than those of speaking English. Most of Taiwan companies’ factories are in Central and South America. People there speak Spanish, not English. If you can speak Spanish, you will have more chance to work there and get promotion.
I can speak and read a little bit of Spanish, so I have learned some history of Spain. When I traveled in Spain, I enjoyed my trip more than other people. For instance, the understanding of some church’s background can help indulge myself in the atmosphere of art. Moreover, while I went to see the bullfight, I didn’t just think it’s a game or competition between a man and a bull. I can further find the meanings of the game.
In conclusion, knowing some foreign languages can get along well with foreigners, get the opportunities to work oversea and appreciate the beauty of foreign history. We must practice all the time in order to improve our language skill. No matter where we are, the second language will enhance our ability to live better, work easier and make more friends.
